Design Process and UX Foundations

Unit 1 - The Designer’s Mind: What does a User Experience Designer actually do? What is Design Thinking? In this course, you will explore answers to these questions by learning how to interpret your user’s needs, their mindsets, and how to design digital products for large user groups. 

Unit 2 - Big Picture Design: How do you begin to design a user interface? How do users respond to cutting-edge designs vs. outdated designs? In this course, you will learn how to use Figma to apply visual design foundations in the creation of your first wireframes and user flows.

Design Process & Design Research

Unit 3 - Defining Style: At this point in the program, you will begin to feel your sense of design begin to grow. Until this point, you will have focused on individual design products. This course introduces you to the concept of design systems and walks you through the process of creating your first brand guide! 

Unit 4 - Deeper User Understanding: Have you ever wondered how design decisions are made through the life of a product? In this course, you will learn that the answer to that question is “Research”! You will learn how to leverage research findings into design decisions and create interactive prototypes to test on your users. 

Design Evaluation & Design Testing

Unit 5 - Improving the User Experience: Have you ever thought about how page layouts shift when screen sizes are increased or decreased? This course challenges you to learn cutting-edge approaches by adding responsiveness to mobile, tablet, and desktop designs… thereby optimizing their usability!

Unit 6 - Life as a Design Professional: Having a portfolio website is essential for UX designers and this course is designed to help you create yours. In Course 6, we walk you through how to craft a portfolio website that will make you a top competitor on today’s UX job market. 

Succeeding as a Designer & Capstone Presentation

Unit 7- Capstone: In this final course, you will learn how to navigate your UX/UI project with a real-world client. You will also learn how to articulate your design processes on the case study pages of your portfolio website.
